Southend completed the signing of former winger Michael Kightly in July 2017 on a three year deal.
Kightly is a familiar name to Blues fans after his two years at the club between 2003 and 2005 when he scored once in 19 appearances.
Following his release, the winger joined Grays Athletic and it was in his year and a half there that he caught the eye of Championship side Wolves.
He made the switch to Molineux permanent in 2007 and amassed 122 appearances in five years, with a loan at Watford in-between, before Tony Pullis signed him for Stoke City.
Kightly made 19 starts, with another seven appearances from the bench, at the Potters before joining Burnley on loan for the 2013/14 season.
He was integral as the Clarets won promotion to the Premier League that campaign, notably scoring the second of a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic which saw them confirm their spot in the top flight.
The move was made permanent the following season and Kightly made 20 appearances for the Turf Moor club in the Premier League, however most recently the winger was loaned out to Championship side Burton Albion.
