Mark Oxley was made captain of the club at the start of the 2018/19 season having won the Player of the Year award the season before.
The goalkeeper joined Blues in 2016 after playing over 90 games for Hibernian but despite missing out on a lot of football in his first year at Roots Hall, he kept 17 clean sheets throughout the 2017/18 season and was the stand-out player.
Oxley’s impressive performances earned him a fresh three-year deal in the summer.
The 25-year-old, originally from Sheffield, started his career at Rotherham United before joining Hull City where he subsequently spent time on loan at Walsall, Grimsby Town, Burton Albion & Oldham Athletic respectively.
His first season at Roots Hall was blighted by injury, but he recovered for the start of the 17/18 season to re-claim the number one spot.
