Blues completed the permanent signing of Stephen Humphrys from Premier League side Fulham in the 2019 January transfer window.
The 21-year-old, who was on loan at Scunthorpe United in the first half of the season, joined the club on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Humphrys started his career in Bury’s Academy at an early age before moving to Fulham in 2013. Rising through the Cottagers’ Academy, he made his debut against Derby County in 2016 aged 19 before going out on loan to Shrewsbury Town in the second half of the 2016/17 season.
Humphrys’ second loan spell of his career came a year later at Rochdale where he made 18 appearances scoring three goals, one of which came against Tottenham Hotspur in an FA Cup replay at Wembley. At the start of last season, Humphrys joined Scunthorpe and, in 20 appearances in all competitions, scored five goals before returning to Fulham and then signing permanently for Blues.
Humphrys scored a brace on his debut against Bradford, and then played the vital role in Blues’ survival, coming off the bench to score the winner against Sunderland which kept the club in League One.
