Cox, who brought up a century of career goals in January 2017 and his 100th career league goal at the end of the same year, joined Blues after his release from Sky Bet Championship side Reading in June 2016.
He was announced as a Southend United player in July 2016 and went onto score an impressive 16 goals in his first season. The former Republic of Ireland striker featured 30 times for his country scoring four goals.
Cox was also part of Giovanni Trappatoni’s Euro 2012 squad in Poland and Ukraine. His other notable clubs include Swindon Town scoring 35 goals in 62 appearances, West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest.
Cox signed a contract extension at Blues in the summer of 2018 and surpassed over 100 appearances for the club early into the season. The 18/19 season was Cox’s best in a Southend shirt with 17 goals which, along with eight assists, was vital in keeping the club in League One and he now sits on 43 goals for the club.
