Southend United signed Marc-Antoine Fortuné following a successful period training with the club.
After starting his career in France, Fortuné moved to England on loan to Premier League Side West Bromwich Albion from Nancy in January 2009. The striker scored five goals in 17 league appearances for the Baggies including one on his debut against Middlesbrough.
After a successful six months at the Hawthorns, Fortuné moved north of the border to Glasgow giants, Celtic for £3.8million. The Frenchman was at Celtic Park for one season, scoring 12 times.
Fortuné then moved back to West Brom in 2010, spending three years with the midlands club before moving to Wigan Athletic in 2013, and then most recently Coventry City in 2015.
Having impressed in the lead up to Christmas during the 2016/17 season, Fortune extended his contract until the end of the 2017/18 season for another 18 months.
