Twamley joined in late June 2026 on two-year contract with a club option for a third.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Shrimpers off the back of a prolific season with Merthyr Town in the National League North.

Twamley played in all 46 of the Martyrs’ league games, scoring 16 goals and assisting a further 14, and earning a place in the 2025/26 National League North Team of the Season.

A product of Newport County’s academy and a former Wales Under-19s international, Twamley first joined Merthyr – then of the Southern League Premier Division – in 2023.

15 goals in 21 games to begin Merthyr’s title-winning 2024/25 campaign saw Twamley earn a move up to the National League with Yeovil Town, but he returned to South Wales six months later to star as the Martyrs carried their momentum into an eighth-place finish in the sixth tier.

In total, Twamley bagged 39 goals in 109 games for Merthyr before becoming Kieron Dyer’s fifth signing for the Shrimpers.
