Debut: vs Brentwood Town, 07.12.2024

Golding, who is a 6’2 centre-back, first arrived at Roots Hall on a short-term loan from Oxford United after previous loans at Banbury United, Dartford and Maidenhead United.

The Sutton-born defender initially played for AFC Wimbledon’s academy before joining Oxford in 2020. He’s played nine times for the U’s across League One, the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy.

He had short spells at both Banbury and Dartford but did manage to get on the scoresheet for both of those clubs. Golding appeared in 10 National League games for Maidenhead last season before re-joining the Magpies in 2024/25, scoring twice in seven games.

He scored three times in 17 appearances during his first spell with the Shrimpers, before rejoining the club on loan again in February 2026, having spent the earlier months of the season on loan at League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra.
