Debut:
The 27 year old signed a one-year deal with a Club option for a second after joining in early August 2026.
Formerly of Southend United Youth, Sims returns to South Essex off the back of two impressive seasons at Sutton United in the Enterprise National League.
Born in Southend-on-Sea, Sims joined our youth setup from Canvey Island, spending six years going through the age groups before joining then-fellow EFL League One side Blackpool as a scholar in 2015.
Sims signed his first professional contract with the Tangerines in 2017, and debuted as a substitute to play the remaining 60 minutes of Blackpool’s 1-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley.
After being released in 2021, Sims headed back down south to joining Welling United. A successful spell with the Wings saw him feature 24 times in all competitions and win the club’s Player of the Month award in three consecutive months, but eventually he opted to switch for fellow National League South side Braintree Town.
Two seasons with the Iron culminated in promotion to the National League via the play-offs, and Sims’ performance turned the heads of recently-relegated Sutton United. After starting the season as understudy to Steve Arnold, Sims earned five clean sheets in his first seven league matches for the Amber.
Having ended 2024/25 as Sutton’s joint-Player of the Season, Sims continued as the number one and earned six more clean sheets during a difficult campaign for the South London outfit.
