Over 30 pubs across Southend will be buzzing with brainpower and community spirit this Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th September, as they take part in the Big Blue Pub Quiz, a major fundraising event in support of the Southend United Community Foundation.

The two-night quiz extravaganza aims to bring the community together through fun, friendly competition while raising vital funds for the Foundation’s transformative programmes that benefit young people and vulnerable groups in Southend.

The Foundation plays a vital role in the local area, delivering a wide range of programmes designed to educate, inspire, and uplift:

Programme combining academic study and football training, preparing students for university or careers in sport
Free football sessions for young people aged 11–19, promoting physical activity and positive engagement
Football coaching for children at venues across the Southend area
Outreach initiatives for vulnerable groups, including those who are disabled or homeless

Currently, the Foundation is working towards a £50,000 target to build new classrooms for its educational programmes. With £32,000 already raised, the Big Blue Pub Quiz is set to bring them even closer to their goal.

Not only is this a fun way to bring people together, but every pound raised helps us make a bigger difference in Southend. Whether it’s education, sport, or supporting vulnerable groups, this community is at the heart of everything we do.”
