We now know the Vanarama National League line-up for the 2022/23 season following the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign with Sunday's Promotion Final.
Grimsby Town secured an immediate return to League Two with a 2-1 win in extra time against Solihull Moors at the London Stadium, meaning it’s the Moors who are the last team to be confirmed in the National League alongside Blues next season.
The Mariners joined champions Stockport County in reaching the EFL thanks to Jordan Maguire-Drew’s late goal from a trademark long throw-in to complete the turnaround, after going behind to a Kyle Hudlin header late in the first half. Congratulations to Paul Hurst, Dave Chalinor and their teams on promotion.
Coming the opposite way will be Grimsby’s Lincolnshire rivals Scunthorpe United who finished bottom of League Two in 2021/22 and Oldham Athletic.
Returning to the normal 24-team division next season, four teams won promotion from the National League North and National League South.
Gateshead and Maidstone United earned the right to go up as champions in their respective leagues, while York City and Dorking Wanderers did the job the hard way through the play-offs.
Blues last faced Maidstone in the league in 1989, losing twice, while the only other promoted side they have league history with is York, winning both games in the 2014/15 season.
