Southend United have re-secured the services of centre back Kacper Lopata.
Lopata joined Blues at the end of October from Sheffield United, making seven appearances before a knee injury forced him to miss time towards the end of the initial loan period, which expired on Monday.
But he is close to a return to full fitness and Blues are delighted to have extended the Polish U20 international’s stay at Roots Hall until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Head coach Kevin Maher said: "I’m delighted to keep Kacper. He’s a great character and a very good player.
"He was keen to stay which is great and we look forward to him coming back and playing for us.
"He’s had a slight problem with his knee, but fingers crossed he will get through this week and then he will return to us for what’s going to be a tough month."
