1 August 2022

We are delighted to be working with the Southend United Ex-Players Association (SUEPA) this season as we celebrate our past players and to kick things off, Richard Cadette will be returning to Roots Hall against Boreham Wood.

Many recall Freddy Eastwood’s debut in 2004 when he bagged a memorable hat-trick to start his Southend United career. However, if you cast your minds back to 23 August 1985 a then relatively unknown 20-year-old Richard made his debut under the Friday night lights v Orient, the team we signed him from, and promptly bagged FOUR as we stormed to a 5-1 win!

That was no flash in the pan though, forming a deadly partnership with Roy McDonough who set up many of his strikes, that season Richard scored a total of 25 in 49 appearances and was voted our Player of the Year. The season after he even topped that with 31 in 56 games as we secured promotion from Division Four. He remains 17th in our all-time scorers list, and in a twist of fate will be welcomed into the Legends Lounge when he returns by the man who replaced him, David Crown.

All of our returning players receive a warm welcome and sitting amongst fans in the Legends Lounge with many who recall their past efforts in a Shrimpers shirt makes it that extra bit special for all involved.

Where possible we also get our SUEPA match day guests to visit other hospitality areas. To book hospitality for Boreham Wood, please contact the Commercial Department on or 01702 304147.

Note: SUEPA match day hospitality guests can be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control
