Southend United have been drawn at home to Isthmian League North Division club Coggeshall Town in the Third Round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup.

Blues will meet the Seedgrowers for the first time in a competitive fixture after Holland manager Paul Phelan and BBC Essex Sport presenter Glenn Speller paired the sides in the draw, which was broadcast on the radio station on Thursday evening.

Coggeshall currently sit tenth in the Isthmian League North Division table and were knocked out of The FA Trophy by league leaders Canvey Island - then managed by Blues First Team Coach Mark Bentley - in late September. The tie will take place at Roots Hall and must be played before Saturday 18th December. Full details relating to the fixture will be confirmed in due course.

Southend, like their opponents, enter the competition at the Third Round stage and reached the Quarter-Finals in 2019/20 before losing narrowly to Finalists Billericay Town at New Lodge. The BBC Essex Senior Cup was curtailed in March 2020 before the Final could be played and did not take place at all last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
