Tom Clifford is 50/50 to be fit for tonight’s game against Walsall but James Olayinka is “pushing to be involved.”
Elvis Bwomono is unavailable due to an international call-up for the match against the Saddlers.
Here’s the latest on Clifford and Arsenal loanee Olayinka, who has been sidelined since January, from Southend manager Mark Molesley.
“Tom was unfortunately injured at the weekend so he was unavailable [for Scunthorpe].
“We’ll have to take a late check on him for tonight. He sustained a bit of an ankle injury in training on Thursday and on Friday morning it swelled up a little bit.
“We had him on his feet again on Monday so we’ll have to see how he reacts.”
“It’s not time to hang around now with certain players. In an ideal world you’d want him to have more game [minutes] and more training sessions to put him in a better place.
“I think he’s done enough to push to be involved now but how long he can play is probably the only concern we’ve got.”
