The Southend United squad return to Boots & Laces Training Ground on Thursday and Friday ahead of the start of pre-season on Monday.
The sports science staff will examine the players with a series of tests before the hard work starts next week.
Blues boss Phil Brown explained how important the next six weeks will be for his squad.
"The interesting part is gelling a team together. A new team in my opinion.
"We’ve got six brand new players, we’ve got one or two re-signed players along with some young lads that are coming through the ranks and are going to play a big part.
"It’s gelling all of that together and that’s the job of a manager.
"The next six weeks are the most important part in terms of preparation. We want to get through the next six weeks unscathed in terms of key players and key injuries, getting fitness levels that are going to be competitive and getting people’s running ability to be able to run over teams which has to be right.
"The next six weeks are absolutely vital to any kind of successful season that we’re going to have."
