Blues have completed the signing of forward Reeco Hackett-Fairchild on loan from Portsmouth until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old, who can play on either wing and offers versatility down the middle, has been on loan at Bromley in the first half of the season, scoring twice in 12 games and grabbing three assists.

Hackett-Fairchild will wear the number 17 shirt and he was pleased to seal a move to Roots Hall.

“It’s been around for a while and I’m delighted to get it over the line,” he said.

“There was some interest in the summer, but it couldn’t get done. It’s come back up in January and I’m really happy to be here.

“I’ve spent half a season on loan at Bromley, got my games back up along with my fitness and now I can push on and finish the rest of the season strongly.

“I spoke to the gaffer this week and he let me know a bit about the club, the team and what he’s trying to implement which really appealed to me. It’s a big reason why I’m here today.”

Having progressed through the ranks at Dagenham & Redbridge, Hackett-Fairchild signed for Charlton Athletic in 2016 following a successful trial. He made 24 appearances for the Addicks before joining Bromley permanently in the summer of 2019.

An impressive start to the 2019/20 season, in which he netted eight goals in 25 appearances and chimed in with assists on top of that, sparked interest from Football League clubs, and in January last year Hackett-Fairchild was sold to Portsmouth in a deal which smashed Bromley’s record fee received.

He found game time limited with the League One club, while the football schedule was abruptly brought to an early conclusion, but now back in the Football League Hackett-Fairchild is looking to kick on with Blues.

“I’m an ambitious player, I want to challenge myself every day and be the best I can be. This is a good opportunity to improve and keep working on my craft.

“I’m ready to go. I’ve seen the results and the boys have been on a good run, it’s just about building on that now. They’ve set a standard and it’s about keeping to those standards and setting them even higher.”
