Matt Dennis said he was buzzing to get his second goal in as many games, as he helped Southend United draw 1-1 with Bromley at Hayes Lane on Boxing Day.
The forward was given a place in the starting eleven after scoring a wonder goal against Dorking Wanderers in the FA Trophy last Saturday.
Talking about his most recent strike, Dennis said: 'I’m buzzing! I’m really excited to get two in two also."
"Thank you to the gaffer for starting me today."
"I just wanted to catch the ball neatly and hit the target. I was really tired at the time, so I thought to myself just catch the ball."
"I was about to come off, I was so tired!"
Dennis got his goal just two minutes after Bromley took the lead through Michael Cheek, and the Norwich City loanee was ecstatic with how his team responded.
He added: "I thought the boys did well, especially in the first half. We had a slow start, but the boys dug in and it’s a decent result."
"We could’ve got [a win], but I’m really proud of the boys."
"It’s a good result, 100%. It probably could’ve been more as we had loads of chances."
"I think it’s a positive result considering how we’ve done recently."
After six games were postponed in the National League due to COVID, Blues’ point meant they now sit one point above the relegation zone, with Southend set to host 16th placed Barnet at Roots Hall on Tuesday.
"The more positive results we get further down the line, the more we can start to climb the table," said Dennis.
"This result was decent. It shows we have what it takes."
"Give us a bit more time, we’ll build on these positive results and have a positive season!"
"Whatever the gaffer does, I’m ready. The boys have got it in them."
"Just give me a bit of rest and I’ll be ready!"
