SHRIMPERS TRUST RARING TO GO FOR MEET THE BLUES DAY!

14 August 2021

We are all really looking forward to MTBD tomorrow and hope that as many of you as possible can be there for what promises to be a fun day out.

The Club is grateful for all the assistance it has received in putting the event together from so many different people, and as usual The Shrimpers Trust have been at the forefront in lending their support.

They will be housed in the big marquee and have a great range of goodies for sale and events happening. Have you seen the special ‘legends print’ that the Trust have commissioned, and which will be for sale for the very first time on Sunday? It really is a lovely piece of artwork and has already received some fabulous comments on social media.

One of the bedrocks of what the Trust is about is to help and encourage support. That means not only sourcing travel to away games, but for instance arranging events for Junior Blues including exclusive ‘Meet the Players’ events and parties. There will be plenty of Trust personnel present who will be happy to speak to you about what the Trust does and/or signing up for membership either as a full Trust member or becoming a Junior Blue.

We all love a bit of nostalgia, and many of you will have seen the Trust’s Retro Shirt range which has recently grown over the past year to six shirts and will be further expanded to eight tomorrow as two new shirts will be unveiled in a ‘Retro Shirts Catwalk’ at 1.00pm. Be sure to catch that, several former players as well as fans will be strutting their stuff as models!

Indeed, via the Southend United Ex Players Association (SUEPA) arm of the Trust, a number of former players have agreed to be in attendance on the day, helping out with a ‘keepy-uppy’ competition and no doubt being happy to relive past memories with you. Some will also be taking part in a walking football match arranged by Mr Southend United himself Frankie Banks, maybe the ‘keepy-uppy’ competition will help them loosen a few muscles as part of their warm-up!

Without hopefully tempting fate, the weather looks to be set fair for tomorrow at Boots & Laces, there is something for everyone at MTBD and entry is free so why not come along? We look forward to welcoming you all.
