Southend United are delighted to announce the signing of Matt Dennis on loan from Premier League side Norwich City.
The young forward has been training with Blues throughout pre-season, featuring in six of seven friendlies for Phil Brown’s side.
And the former Arsenal Academy player, 19, has made an impression on the Blues boss to secure a season-long loan move to the Club.
Brown told southendunited.co.uk: "We’ve been really impressed with Matty’s attitude. He comes from a Premier League club and a lot of people think you’ve sometimes got the wrong attitude because you’re up there, but he hasn’t come in like that at all.
"He’s come in to try and impress everybody and he’s certainly impressed us with his movement, his pace and his technique. His pace will frighten teams.
"Norwich offered him to us as a striker and in the first training session he drifted out to the left and the right. We’ve seen him down the middle as a number nine and number 10.
"But the most important part of Matt’s game is his pace."
Following the completion of the deal, Dennis said: "I’m really excited, I’m ready for the experience and I’m up for it.
"I’m excited to show the gaffer what I can do and try to have a positive impact on the team.
"Training has been intense, everyone’s been great with me and the lads are all really good.
The forward expressed a willingness to offer the manager a versatile option in the attacking department.
"I enjoy playing anywhere will play wherever the gaffer wants me to."
Welcome to Blues, Matt!
The deal is subject to FA clearance.
