Southend United are delighted to announce the signing of Kazaiah Sterling on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur until January 4th, 2021.
The 21-year-old striker has been at Spurs since the age of 16.
He made his competitive debut for the North London club in a Champions League group game against Apoel Nicosia in 2017, replacing Dele Alli late on in the 3-0 win.
As well as representing Tottenham at youth level and in the EFL Trophy, the Enfield-born forward has had loan spells with Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers previously and most recently at Leyton Orient in January.
Manager Mark Molesley was delighted to bring Kazaiah to the club, with the deal going through in time ahead of tomorrow’s game against Exeter City.
"He’s a player we’ve courted for some time now," said Molesley. "We’ve done our research and watched him a lot and he’s one that’s been at the top of our list to try and bring in.
"Being around Tottenham’s U23s, he’s had a couple of loan moves already and he’s highly recommended from our scouting department and other people around him. He comes with good character references, he’s had a fantastic footballing education at Tottenham and he’s a player to be very excited about.
"The fact that Tottenham have trusted us to improve one of their players is great and I’m sure he’s going to bring a lot of value, so we’re delighted to welcome him to the football club.
"He’s very quick, aggressive, predominantly plays up front but can also play wide. He definitely gives us another option.
"I’m thankful to Tottenham for loaning one of their top talents to us and also the Chairman for allowing us to get this deal over the line ahead of stiff competition."
Kazaiah has been given the number 17 shirt.
