The Shrimpers Trust and Southend United Ex Players Association (SUEPA) have teamed up with Chablais Sport to produce a range of Southend United Retro Shirts through the latter’s ‘world retro’ brand.

Currently, two shirts are available, the affectionately known ‘Custard Splat’ from the 1996 to 1998 era and now too the 1980/81 shirt from our record-breaking Division Four championship-winning season. It is intended to unveil plans to make more options available early in the New Year.

Both shirts will bring back many fond memories for Southend United fans and, especially as ‘back in the day’ club shirts for fans were not as prevalent as they are today, many might appreciate the opportunity to now wear their own little piece of ‘Shrimper history’.

Pictured wearing the Custard Splat here is former Shrimper Adrian Clarke (and also a very young fan wearing her baby grow version!), and modelling the 1980/81 shirt is none other than our Player of the Year from that season Derek Spence who is proudly showing off his Division Four winners medal which he still treasures to this day.

Shirts cost £35 (including postage and packing), come in a choice of short or long sleeve, and all sizes are available from baby grow to 7XL Adult. You can even add a name and number to the back of the shirt at no extra cost. Delivery is normally three weeks.

The shirts are ‘retro’ rather than ‘replica’ – due to image/copyright regulations original manufacturer logos cannot be used on the shirts.

The Shrimpers Trust receives a donation from every shirt sold to help them support the club in the work that they do.
