Shoeburyness Salvation Army COVID-19 Community Support

1 May 2020

At present The Salvation Army Shoeburyness has helped over 100 people in the last three weeks living in Shoeburyness, Thorpe Bay and Great Wakering.

The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world.

In the UK and Republic of Ireland this work includes more than 800 Salvation Army social service centres and community churches.

They provide unconditional friendship, support and very practical help to people in crisis and need and work with children, homeless people, all adult victims of modern slavery and those dealing with drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Over recent days they have seen a sharp increase in the number of food parcels being referred to them due to COVID-19.

They are working with local schools and other organisations to support people in the local area who are finding things difficult due to the current climate.

They have a small supply of food and toiletries but this is quickly going and the money raised from this Just Giving page will be used to restock the food supplies.

If you can support the work that they do specifically then they would be extremely grateful.
