19-year-old centre back Miles Mitchell-Nelson is striving for more first-team experiences this coming season.
Mitchell-Nelson opened the scoring in Saturday’s second pre-season victory against Hullbridge Sports.
And after making his Blues debut last season, the youngster wants to push on and continue to be involved under Mark Molesley.
The defender spoke to the media following the 3-0 win.
On getting more minutes this season…
“My aim is to be in the first team.
“I want to be in from the start and I’m working my hardest.
“I’m trying to push on and want to be the first name on the team-sheet if I can.”
His thoughts on the Hullbridge win…
“I thought the boys played well.
“We’re trying to implement the new things the manager has been teaching us throughout pre-season.
“He wants energetic, fast-paced football and we did that and played well.”
On getting the game's first goal…
“It was a great feeling. Everyone wants to impress in front of the new manager.
“Scoring the first goal got us off to a good start.
“I’m trying to get more goals because it’s important.
“Especially coming up for set pieces, we’re there to score.
“Scoring goals also means I’m playing more of a part and it’s a great feeling too.”
On another clean sheet…
“The gaffer’s always talking about a defensive mentality and keeping clean sheets as much as attacking.
“Keeping two clean sheets in a row is always very good for confidence, especially for us defenders.”
On life under Mark Molesley…
“It’s been great, I’ve liked every minute.
“He’s teaching us new things and helping us to be more attacking when we’re on the ball.
“Everyone has taken that information on board and we’re seeing it in pre-season.”
