Southend United U23s will host Scunthorpe United U23s in the Second Qualifying Round of the Premier League Cup.
Blues saw off Fleetwood Town in a 4-1 victory to reach the next stage, forwards Emile Acquah and Matt Rush netting two goals apiece, while the Iron beat Shrewsbury Town 2-0.
The game will take place at Roots Hall on Tuesday, 10th September with a 4pm kick-off.
In what will also be Craig Fagan’s first game in charge of the side following his appointment as manager, the young Blues will go in search of reaching the group stage of the competition for the first time in four attempts.
It would be great to see a good crowd for this to cheer on the team. Admission will be free of charge once again and we ask supporters to enter via the East Stand tunnel entrance.
A small programme will be on sale for £1, which is kindly being produced by Youth Team reporter Robert Craven, with proceeds going towards the Academy and the continued development of players.
