Southend United U23's opened their 2019/20 Central League South campaign with an entertaining 6-0 win over Forest Green Rovers U23s.
Craig Fagan had a handful of first-team members in the starting line-up, with Jason Demetriou, Luke Hyam, Isaac Hutchinson, Andre Blackman and the returning Timothee Dieng playing their part in the win on Tuesday.
Eren Kinali headed home the opener for Blues, which was shortly followed up by another header from Miles Mitchell-Nelson.
Timothee Dieng had a chance on goal from around 20-yards out but his shot sailed over the bar.
Terrell Egbri played a crucial part in the win over Forest Green as he featured in the build-ups to the previous two goals and later set up Emile Acquah to net the third.
Young first-team regular Isaac Hutchinson made it four for the home side, but Southend weren't done there as they bagged a fifth before half-time, with Mitchell-Nelson grabbing his second of the game.
The final goal of the game came from promising centre-back Richard Taylor who nodded Hutchinson's right-wing cross into the back of the net.
