Southend United caretaker manager Gary Waddock wants to reward the home supporters tomorrow night and pick up Blues' first win at Roots Hall this season.
Blues picked up a crucial point on the road to Tranmere Rovers last Friday, and Gary Waddock wants to start building some consistency in the performances, and ultimately results, starting with the first of back-to-back games at Roots Hall against Doncaster Rovers.
"We’ve not played well at home at all this season, and our focus has to be on our performances especially in front of the home fans.
"It’s very important to pick up wins and results when you’re at home, but the consistency has to be there, and we have to take Friday’s performance into Tuesday’s game.
"We can’t play a high level of football one week and all of a sudden not turn up, so the players have to be wary of that, and they’ll have to put in a good performance at home.
"Of course, building momentum helps that, but if we don’t [build momentum], we know what the outcome will be.
"We’re at home on Tuesday and that’s the best place to build momentum."
Southend weren’t the only side last week to pick up points when needed, with sides around them also getting results, but Waddock isn’t looking at the other results.
"I know a lot of other teams got good results over the weekend, but our focus has to be on our performances really.
"If we perform like we did against Tranmere, we’ll pick up results, so we have to concentrate on that.
"Other teams will have their own agendas and they have to pick up their own points, but more importantly we have to do our own work to get the points on board."
Darren Moore brings his Rovers side to Roots Hall after a good win at the weekend.
Waddock added: "They are a good side, they’ve got some decent players for this level of football. They're a possession-based side, they want to keep the ball and want to play through the thirds of the pitch.
"We will have to be very compact and solid, then we can try and catch them out when they are being very expansive.
"The players know what to expect on Tuesday, we’ve got something in place and hopefully we can take that onto the field of play."
