Saturday’s game against Sunderland was not only a memorable one for the result, but for one lucky supporter and her dad it was special in another way.
Tony and his young daughter Mia were the first chosen to be invited for a VIP matchday experience that has recently been implemented at Southend United Football Club.
Tony contacted our matchday experience officer hoping to be selected for a behind the scenes look into a game at Roots Hall and they were surprised to hear they would not only be taken pitchside to meet their favourite player, but they would also be presenting the Players’ Player of the Season trophy moments before kick-off.
They were greeted at reception and shown to the tunnel and dugout area where they watched the warm-ups before being told they were going to be presenting the award to Simon Cox before the game as well.
Young Blues fan Mia was delighted and overall it was huge success on what was Southend’s biggest game of season, not least for how the game panned out on the pitch as well.
We will be continuing similar experiences such as this one into next season at all home games, so if you know someone in mind who you think is deserving of a bit of behind the scenes access and to come and meet their favourite player pre game or celebrate a birthday in a way that you will never forget, right before taking to your seat for the game, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If there are any first-time visitors who are planning on coming to Roots Hall next season and you would like the full matchday experience which will involve coming down to pitchside to have a photo taken with one of the members of the first team, do not hesitate to contact us.
