Tonight we stand with Leyton Orient and Justin Edinburgh’s family and friends and offer our heartfelt condolences following the tragic news of his passing.
Edinburgh began his career at Southend United as a left back and made 37 appearances.
He was part of the 1989/90 Division Four winning team before going on to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan, a move which was soon made permanent in 1990.
He also played for Portsmouth and Billericay Town before moving into management, firstly in non-league football before stints at Newport County, Gillingham and Northampton Town.
At just 49-years-old and having guided Leyton Orient back to the Football League last season, Edinburgh suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday.
This news has come as a complete shock and everyone at Southend United sends their deepest sympathies to all of Justin’s family and friends at this difficult time.
