Robinson’s surprise to come on and win the game against Millwall

25 July 2019

Wednesday night’s match winner Theo Robinson revealed his surprise at coming on against Millwall.

The striker came off the bench in the 74th minute for Stephen Humphrys and scored a quick-fire double in the 2-1 win against the Championship side.

And with the minutes building up for the squad, Robinson said he thought the starting eleven might have been given the full 90 minutes to impress.

On getting the win against Millwall…

I thought for the majority of the game we did really well as a team and at the back, apart from Nathan’s first goal, we probably should have kept a clean sheet but I thought we played really well as a team and everyone put in a shift.

On if being on the bench in the hot conditions was a blessing in some way…

You want to play every game as much as you can and coming off the bench you come on and try the best you can. It was nice to get the two goals.

On his two goals scored…

I thought the lads were going to play 90 minutes tonight but it’s obviously nice to get on and get some more minutes under my belt.

On the three new signings' first game at Roots Hall…

I thought they played really well especially Nathan, I didn’t realise he’s got a leap like that. It was good that he was solid and winning loads of flick on’s to bring other people into the game. I thought Mark did really well - I thought he nearly scored with the strike in the second half. He was my roommate in Dorset so hopefully he keeps doing well.

On the final pre-season game against Gillingham…

We’ve got a good squad, so everyone is ready to be used and we have to keep going as it’s one more push to go and then we will be ready for the season to start next week.

A reminder that you can meet the Blues squad this Sunday at Meet the Blues Day which starts at 10am. For further details click here.
