Blues youngster Nathan Bishop has won the supporter's vote for the Genting Casino January Player of the Month!
January was a great month for the 20-year-old who has just completed his first full month in between the sticks for the first team.
Bishop started the month with a comfortable clean sheet against local rivals Gillingham, a game which he stayed focused in and helped set up Taylor Moore's first Blues goal, moments after thinking he had conceded and his quick thinking also earnt him his first Man of the Match award.
Against Plymouth the number 13 pulled of a number of saves but it wasn't enough to help Southend come back and draw against the Pilgrims.
The only away game of the month saw Bishop pull off an exceptional goal-line save to deny Bradford any chance of destroying Blues' 4-0 lead over the Bantams.
Bishop finished the month with an unlucky 1-0 defeat to Luton, but his blocks kept the score-line down and ended the month conceding only four goals and averaged a 66% save success rate in January.
