Moore: "We need to be careful, there’s no hiding that."

4 February 2019

Bristol City loanee gave his reaction to Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers.

On the result…

It was very frustrating for us. We’ve got to be realistic and brutally honest with ourselves as a team and that wasn’t good enough, especially in the first half. The way we defended and the way we tried to play which obviously we didn’t succeed, it just wasn’t good enough. In the second half we showed a lot more fight, enthusiasm and determination going forward but unfortunately we just couldn’t make it right.

On the home struggles…

That’s what frustrates us the most. Your home ground should be a tough place to come and where teams find it hard to beat you. Unfortunately, our last 10 or 12 games at home have been very inconsistent and that’s frustrating us the most. We all know that’s what football can be like sometimes. Saturday was just very, very frustrating.

On getting sucked into a relegation battle…

We’ve always stuck together, no matter what the results or the manner of the results. We’ve said about still looking forward and still looking to build, but it’s got to a point now where we do have to be very careful. It is tight and we’ve been a mid-table team for so long now that we haven’t been able to crawl out of it, so now you have to start looking behind you. There’s teams like Bristol Rovers who will go and grind out results and get wins away from home and it’s not always going to be pretty, and they will start to catch us if we’re not careful. We’ve got some tough games coming up so we need to be careful, there’s no hiding that.

On the next game…

This weekend gives us an opportunity to go somewhere else and try and get a result there to build our confidence back up. Charlton will be a difficult test, but we need to move on from Saturday and focus on Charlton now.
