Celebrity Charity Football Match

13 February 2019

Are you coming to our Celebrity Football match in March?

A host of celebrities will join several Blues legends at Roots Hall Stadium on Sunday 10th March (3pm kick-off) with all proceeds being donated between Southend United Community & Educational Trust and Magic Moments Children’s Charity.

We are delighted to announce that the two captains for the game will be Eastenders star Danny Dyer and former X Factor winner Shayne Ward.

The match is organised by Sellebrity Soccer and it will be the first time it has been hosted in Essex! Blues will also be including several legends which will be announced in due course.

Southend United Community & Educational Trust is the official charity partner of Southend United Football Club. It strives to get more communities in South East Essex active by providing quality and inclusive football and sports provision that improves health and well-being, education and training, reduces crime and anti-social behaviour, promotes community cohesion and shared common values.

Utilising the power of sport and the vehicle of Southend United Football Club to have a positive influence on people’s lives, SUCET aim to engage with one million people through the brand of Southend United Football Club by 2026.

The Magic Moments Children’s Charity was set up in 1998 by Alick Smith, the then Chairman of the UK’s largest independent estate agency Spicerhaart, and his wife Val.

The charity was formally known as the Fantasy Charity Fund, raising in excess of £1m over the years and is dedicated to helping children from the supported hospices and their families on annual trips to Disneyland Paris.

Any additional funds in the charity pot have historically been used to provide vital equipment, electrical appliances, hoists to lift the children in and out of their beds or baths, and toys for the Children’s Hospices.
