The event was hosted at PlayFootball Southend for the third year running, giving the attending kids the chance to get up close with members of the First-Team squad.
The afternoon kicked off at 4pm with some fun warm-up drills, these sessions were carried out by Southend United Community & Educational Trust’s Coaches, with the Blues players’ also taking part.
Following the warm-ups the kids were separated into age-ranged teams, this kick-started the large group games that were played between the various teams and players’ on the large 3G pitches at the PlayFootball centre.
Despite the rainy conditions the children had great fun and didn’t let the weather get them down.
After the team games, the Junior Blues members came inside and took part in a quiz that was hosted by the Shrimpers Trust and members of the Blues squad.
Following the completion of the quiz, the children were then given the chance to refuel, helping themselves to pizza, chicken dippers and a selection of vegetables.
Just before the end of the event, the SUFC player’s handed out presents to all the children, to spread some final Christmas cheer.
We would like to thank PlayFootball for letting the club use their 3G pitches and also a thank you to the Shrimpers Trust for helping out with the festive event.
Everyone at Southend United would like to wish all the Junior Blues members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
