Statement from Harry Lennon

13 December 2019

Statement from Harry Lennon:

Sometime prior to the FA Cup game at Dover Athletic on 10th November 2019, I had arranged to go out after the game with a group of long-standing friends including Jack Munns who played in the game for Dover.

Both Jack and I were wearing our respective Club tracksuits, having travelled straight from the game to a pub near to where I live in Essex.

Contrary to the views expressed on social media, I was not out with Dover fans and I was not celebrating the outcome of the game.

I was wearing my Southend United tracksuit and, with the benefit of hindsight, would have been best advised to have changed before going out for the evening.

I can assure all supporters of Southend United that I was not drinking alcohol, I was not happy at the outcome of the Cup game and I remain fully committed to the Football Club.

I apologise if I have unwittingly upset any supporter of Southend United – I share the wish of all supporters to see the results improve going forward.
