Join The Shrimpers Trust and Support Homeless Charity – HARP

11 December 2019

The Shrimpers Trust are asking that all Blues supporters join them to back local homeless charity HARP.

HARP is a Southend based charity who focus on helping local people overcome homelessness. They provide essential services and long term solutions to support people in taking steps to overcome homelessness for good.

HARP’s work includes providing housing to people that might otherwise be sleeping on the streets or in other unsuitable places. When someone is ready to live on their own HARP will be there to provide the necessary advice and support to enable them to make a successful transition.

At the home game vs Rotherham on Saturday 14th December the Shrimpers Trust are asking that fans donate non-perishable items, that can be passed on to HARP to support their clients.

Listed below are examples of items which could be donated.

FOOD ITEMS:

  • Tins & packets of non-perishable food including Soup. Pasta & rice.
  • Tinned meat and tinned vegetables Tinned fruit. Biscuits.
  • Sweets & chocolate including selection boxes

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Toiletries Toothbrushes Deodorant - men's and women's Hats/scarves/gloves
  • Socks - men's and women's

*When donating items supporters are asked to ensure that these do not contain any alcohol.

Everyone is asked to bring their items so these can be collected before the game on the 14th. So as to make it as easy as possible for you there will be a number of collection stations available around the Roots Hall ground:

Main Entrance: By the side of the Ticket Office/Club Shop

East Stand: At the top of the steps leading down from the car park to the Shrimpers Bar.

West Stand: By the side of the West Stand Ticket Office.

In addition, if you are visiting the Shrimpers Bar before the game you will be able to drop any items off there.

The collection stations will be live before the game from 1pm, with supporters asked if possible to donate their items before 2.45pm so as to help with the co-ordination of items to storage.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to make a small cash donation to help HARP with the good work they do in the area, the Trust will have collection buckets available at each of the stations.

If you can’t make it to the game on the 14th but would like to support the initiative, items can be brought to the Club Ticket Office this week in advance of the Rotherham game.

Supporters wishing to make a donation direct to HARP can do so by following the link to their website here.

Any items or donations you can make no matter how small will be most welcome.

In anticipation thank you so much for your support.
