Southend’s wait for a first league point continues after a quick-fire double from Peterborough saw Posh record a 2-0 win against Blues at Roots Hall.
Both sides were level at the break before Peterborough’s record signing Mohamed Eisa fired the visitors in front, getting on the end of Marcus Maddison’s whipped ball in.
Maddison was then provider for Ivan Toney, who doubled Posh’s advantage by chesting down the midfielder's floated ball in before finding the net from a tight angle.
Victory for the visitors was their first of the season in all competitions, while Blues’ difficult start to the campaign continues as they remain without a win or a point from their opening four games.
