Moore: "It was a difficult result against Rochdale, but we still have a chance."

29 April 2019

Defender Taylor Moore gives his reaction to the 1-0 defeat to Taylor Moore.

On the game…

It was horrible all-round really, there’s disappointment going back into the dressing room there from everyone from the staff to the players which just shows how much we’re hurting. We come here with one goal in mind which was to get the three points and the 1,200 fans who came up were obviously expecting the same thing. The conditions, the pitch everything about it was horrible, to get done by a set-piece were just all really down and disappointed.

On the corner which led to the goal…

Of course, Tim (Dieng) openly said ‘listen boys, I’m sorry’ but that’s football any person on that pitch can make a mistake it’s up to us to adapt and help out but on that occasion we didn’t, someone let their man go and it’s 1-0 to Rochdale. I was impressed with Rochdale the way they played but we just couldn’t score in the second half and that what is really frustrating.

On the Sunderland game coming up this weekend…

We still have a good chance, it’s a crazy thing looking at the run we’ve been on. Obviously, it was a difficult result against Rochdale, but we still have a chance. We have to beat Sunderland at home. Sunderland will go and play on Tuesday as they have a game in hand. We just have to concentrate on that, its not all over till the final whistle on Saturday, so heads up and definitely go again as we’re not giving up.

On the fans…

Of course, from early on in the week we kind of knew there would be a good following from the Southend fans, a lot of them have followed us all season and they have been terrific. To see the amount of people who have made the effort to come all the way up here today considering the result and the situation we’re in shows a lot about their support. It was definitely something that boosted us even more, we wanted to go out there and put in a performance and get a result. We feel disappointed not only for ourselves but for everyone that made the journey.
