Monday 22 April and the visit of Burton Albion marked our annual retro day.
As such, the front of the programme was a redesigned to the version from our 1972/73 season, the club's first season in Division Three following promotion after finishing as runners-up in Division Four in the previous season.
Fans flocked to the game wearing their Southend tops from previous years, with a lot of classics on show from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Some past club players of Southend United also attended the game as part of retro day. They were Roy McDonough, Andy Dixon, Dave Martin, Steve Hatter and Jason Cook.
There was a real feel good factor around the whole ground on Monday which the retro day helped play a huge part in in the early afternoon sunshine.
The day could be seen as a huge success as Blues achieved their first win since January and took a big step in our chase to stay in League One and avoid relegation.
Let’s hope for another success in next year’s retro day. Thank you to all fans who bought our throwback programme and the ones who took part in our retro day.
If you were one of the many fans that wore an old Blues shirt for #RetroDay let us know if you can see yourself in the gallery above!
