Who get's your vote for the Goal of the Month in March?
We've selected four goals from the First Team and Academy games in March and the nominees for the Edward Carter Solutions GOTM award are as follows:
Rob Kiernan vs Blackpool - Saturday 9th March 2019
The centre-half, who’d been out of action for well over a year following surgery on both his knees, rose highest to head in Sam Mantom’s corner kick at the far post and was subsequently mobbed by the rest of the Blues players as Southend went in front midway through the first half, silencing the Bloomfield Road crowd.
Michael Turner vs Blackpool - Saturday 9th March 2019
Just like the first-half, Blues would make the most of a set-piece as Michael Turner scored his first goal of the season. The centre-half got on the end of a near-post corner by Mantom, delicately flicking the ball up and over Mark Howard and in to put Southend back in front at Blackpool.
Simon Cox vs Scunthorpe United - Tuesday 12th March 2019
Simon Cox was rewarded early on in the Scunthorpe game as he added the finishing touches to a superb team goal. Starting from the back, some quick passing led to Sam Hart crossing the ball to Cox who chested it down before shooting across goal and finding the bottom corner.
Isaac Hutchinson vs Cheltenham Town U23s - Tuesday 19th March 2019
Michael Klass sent a right-wing corner into the box, which was cleared to the edge of the area and Hutchinson slammed a stunning left-footed volley into the top right-hand corner of the net to make it 3-3 for the U23s.
