“We were maybe a bit naïve” - McLaughlin

10 September 2018

Winger on his first goal of the season and the defeat to Peterborough.

Is the goal bitter-sweet because of the result?

It’s good to get my first goal of the season. It’s been a long time coming for me, but yeah it’s disappointing not to take something from the game today.

On the frustrations…

Conceding from set-pieces we didn’t do much last year and we’ll be back on the training pitch to try and sort it out.

Some of the football is a joy to be a part of, so once we sort the other side out it should be a good season for us.

On being disappointed after getting back into the game…

To be 2-0 down, come back the way we did, be controlling the game and looking like we would go on and score again, maybe we were a bit naïve like that.

They are the leaders and they play a certain style. They scored two goals from set-pieces, so it’s hard to take.

We’re a bit down in the way we’ve conceded the goals but we are all together, and you can see that in the way we fight for each other. Everyone’s gutted but all we can do now is get back on the training pitch, try to sort it out and go again.

On trying finding points from somewhere…

We want to be picking up points. We’ve shown that we can battle – we showed that side to our game at Bristol Rovers so we know we can do it. It’s hard to take at the minute.
