International call-ups for Jason Demetriou and Harry Kyprianou mean both will be absent from Chris Powell’s squad to face Rotherham United this weekend.
Demetriou has re-joined his Cyprus national teammates ahead of their friendly at home to Montenegro on Friday.
Kyprianou has been called up to Cyprus’ under 21 squad ahead of two European Championship qualifiers against Hungary and Sweden.
On the loss of Demetriou, Powell said: “It’s a blow to be without Jason but he’s very proud to play for his country and I can’t stop that.
“It’s actually great for us to have an international player but on the other hand it means we will lose him for a game.
“It will open the door for someone like Elvis [Bwomono] or we could put John White there.
“We will deal with it, but as we’ve seen with young Dru Yearwood, I trust young players.
“Elvis is a player who has trained with us and is doing all the work with us too.
“I see him as part of the first team squad and with the attributes he has I would have no qualms playing him against Rotherham.”
