Southend United are delighted to announce the arrival of Timothée Dieng to Roots Hall.
The versatile midfielder, who can also operate in defence, has penned a two-year deal with an option for an extra year after turning down a contract offer from Bradford City.
Dieng, 26, made 30 appearances for the Bantams last season and 48 the year before.
Prior to his move to the Northern Commercials Stadium, Dieng was at Oldham Athletic, who signed him from French side Brest, for two years.
The midfielder has now linked up with Blues and is raring to go and get stuck in with his new teammates.
"I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know the squad as well as working under Chris Powell.
"The players are in training now and I can't wait to link up with them."
Dieng has a lot of knowledge at League One level and he knows exactly what the challenges are like in the third division. This is what the midfielder believes he can use to push on in his first season with the club.
"I've spent four seasons in this division, so I know how things work and how hard it can be at times.
"I know that I can bring my experience into the team and I will try to do everything I can to help the squad and the club move forward."
