Following Saturday's 5-0 win over Great Wakering in pre-season, Blues jetted off to Spain on Sunday afternoon to continue their preparations for the 2018/19 season.

Blues are training on the Spanish coast in Oliva, halfway between Valencia and Alicante where they will also play an Aberdeen Development squad.

And Powell feels it's an important week, not just for fitness purposes, but for team bonding as well.

"In some ways we shouldn’t go should we with the brilliant UK weather, especially when you’re on the coast like we are!

"But it’s a different environment and all teams do it. I was looking at trying to go to one or two different other areas but we couldn’t do it, so we’ve gone to a place that we’ve checked out and we know is going to be good.

"I believe Worcester Warriors are going to be there but we aren’t playing them in a game that’s for certain!

"It’ll be six days of good work and a game as well. I like to have a game, I always think it’s good. Can we do a half or an hour for each player? We might ask them to do two 60’s, or maybe three or four 30’s, because of the heat.

"You build camaraderie as well. It’s important to me as manager because that camaraderie brings you through the season. We’ve got to build that with new personalities and you get to know who they are and what they’re about."
