Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game against Rochdale will be refereed by Eddie Ilderton…
This weekend’s fixture at Spotland Stadium will be Ilderton’s eighth game in charge of Blues.
His last Southend match that he officiated was came last season, when Blues visited Fleetwood Town in the league. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with five yellow cards being brandished, of which three went to Blues players who were Adam Thompson, Michael Timlin and Will Atkinson.
Last season Ilderton took charge of 17 EFL Football League games and one EFL Trophy game showing 52 yellow cards and three red cards throughout the season.
This season he has officiated just 16 games, with his last match coming last weekend when the league leaders Wigan Athletic hosted Peterborough United, which ended in a goalless draw.
He brandished two yellow cards in the game, bringing his tally of total cards shown up to 1,171 yellow cards and 71 red cards since his first game back in 2001.
