Jason Demetriou offers his reaction to Blues' 3-1 win over Portsmouth at Roots Hall as a double from the right back helped Chris Powell's side to a third straight home win.
How does it feel to score two goals in that match…
I’m going to claim the second one although I don’t know how much it was.
It wasn’t the best of games and it probably wasn’t the best of performances from the team, but we’re winning ugly.
That’s now four wins and a draw since the new gaffer has come in and we’re really on some roll now and we’ll take that all day.
How difficult was it…
They’ve got a lot of good attacking players, a lot of tricky players. We conceded one goal which we’re not happy about as a defence, but that rhythm is there and we’re up and running. Winning ugly is sometimes a good sign.
It was a perfect start wasn’t it…
We didn’t start that well. The first five or 10 minutes we didn’t feel like we were in the game and then suddenly good pressure from the boys up front and we went 1-0 up luckily and then it was 2-0 in quick succession.
That slowed us down a little bit and got us into the game.
It was a great start and gave us something to build on in the early stages.
Was there concern when it went to 2-1…
There always is. The gaffer said at half time, that 2-1 is a dodgy score and they can get back in quickly, but where the confidence is there like it is at the moment I don’t think we’re panicking.
Previously we might have folded under the pressure but we were confident we were going to win it and luckily we did.
