Dean Whitestone to take charge of Blues' game against Peterborough

Whitestone will be taking charge of his third Blues game this season, with Saturday being his 18th game in charge of a Southend fixture.

His last game that he took charge of featuring Southend was on 25th November 2017, when Oxford visited Roots Hall.

The result ended in a 1-1 draw after Simon Cox opened the scoring in the 19th minute, only for Blues’ celebrations to be cut sort as Wes Thomas equalised just three minutes later.

He brandished three yellow cards in the game with one going to Michael Timlin after a bad foul.

He has been refereeing for over fourteen years, starting his career in the Football Conference, then progressing up the leagues up until now with his highest appointment being in the Championship.

Whitestone’s last match came on 13th January, when Swindon Town hosted Forest Green Rovers in League Two, with Swindon scoring the only goal in the game.

Seven yellow cards were shown in the game bringing his grand tally of total cards shown up to 1,270 yellow cards and 77 red cards.
