Southend United go in search of their second win of the season at Luton Town tonight.
The Hatters have struggled upon their return to Sky Bet League One with one point from their opening three games.
Blues Boss Chris Powell knows his Luton counterpart Nathan Jones, who formerly was a Southend player, from his Charlton days when the Luton manager was Under-21 coach at The Valley and Powell was in charge.
And he is expecting a tough night at Kenilworth Road.
“They’re a good team, don’t worry about that," said Powell.
“I know Nathan and I know their coaching staff there. They impressed last year and deservedly came up.
“They won’t panic at all about what is happening because it’s very early. Similarly, like us on Saturday, you just want to get a result to build the confidence around the football club.
“They’ve played a certain way but changed at Peterborough on Saturday, which didn’t work, so I’m sure they will get back to what they know and get back to basics.”
Luton’s start to the season has included tests against Portsmouth, Sunderland and Peterborough so far.
And Powell said Blues will need to be at their best to came away with some points.
“We will have to call on our energy and our reserves of energy to do our best to get a foothold in the game and be really diligent with and without the ball.
“We’ve been that way, but what has impressed me most about us is we’ve been creating chances, without really getting the amount of goals I think we should have converted from the chances we created.
“We’re going to have to earn the right to play football and I’m sure Luton Town will be the same.
“We’ve been playing well and playing some good football which I want and I demand.
“The work rate has been good and I’ve got a squad that every time you get a result and play positively, the confidence goes up and everyone feels buoyant. But we don’t have a week to bask in the glory of winning a game, we have to dust ourselves down and get ready for a tough game at Luton Town.”
