Southend United are delighted to announce the season-long loan signing of Shawn McCoulsky from Bristol City.
The 21-year-old forward, who scored 11 goals on loan at Newport County last season, joined just before the 12pm deadline on Friday and is therefore available to be involved in tomorrow’s game against Plymouth.
McCoulsky made 35 appearances in Sky Bet League Two for the Exiles last season, including in the Carabao Cup against Blues a year ago when he was twice on the scoresheet.
Prior to his loan spell at Newport, the South London-born striker made his one and only appearance for the Robins as a substitute in a 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to Hull City in 2016.
During the 2016/17 season, he scored an impressive 31 goals while playing for Bristol City U23s alongside loan spells at Weston-Super-Mare, Torquay United and Bath City.
Blues boss Chris Powell was thrilled to bring the striker in, saying: "Shawn is a young, hungry player that can score goals and he will add to what we already have in the squad.
"I'm pleased we've been able to secure his services for the season and that he can join the squad ahead of tomorrow's game."
McCoulsky has been handed the number 28 shirt and has met up with his new teammates in Plymouth with the chance of making his Southend debut at Home Park tomorrow.
Welcome to Blues, Shawn!
