"They don’t come around often and it’s a nice feeling when one goes in." John White on his part in the Bradford win

30 April 2018

John White scored the opening goal against Bradford on Saturday that would spur on the side to come away with another win and clean sheet...

After playing his part in the victory the defender expressed his thoughts after a great week for Blues.

On the Bradford win

At times it was a bit of a slug and it wasn’t the prettiest of games. Their style of play was direct at times, so we knew what we would be coming up against would be a bit of a battle at times and it wasn’t always going to be pretty football,. The pitch didn’t allow that all the time so we had to play in the right areas but, coming away with three points in a hell of good week is brilliant.

On Blues recent scoring form

A few of the goals we have been scoring of late have been some really good quality goals and the boys up top have been working really hard to try and put things right where they haven’t been scoring goals and, where things haven’t been coming off they’ve been working really hard to put those finishing touches in and put teams away.

On his opening goal

They don’t come around often and it’s a nice feeling when one goes in. It put us 1-0 up and it was a crucial time, where if they’d have got the goal first they would have pushed on to go and get another one. Because of that, it allowed us a bit more freedom in the game and when it came around we soaked up the pressure and then we were able to catch them on the counterattack and play in their half for the remainder of the game.

On keeping another clean sheet

Clean sheets are hard to come by anytime in the season. We’ve got a few players out at the moment that have the experience that you want to be in your team, but it just shows the quality and how good the players are coming through into the squad. Obviously Elvis (Bwomono) has been playing out of position and young Kyps (Harry Kyprianou) has come in and is doing a hell of a job alongside myself and Jason (Demetriou). Of course (Mark) Oxley was at it again with a few more absolute worldie saves that you’d expect to see in the Premier League and above. Honestly, he’s like a magnet!
