Seetec students received their awards for completing the ten-week Facilities Management Academy.
Each trainee gained a certificate of completion to confirm that they had achieved a facilities qualification, with many of them also achieving Maths and English qualifications.
During their studies the trainees had to undertake three-weeks’ worth of practical learning which they carried out at Roots Hall.
While with Southend United the group performed numerous tasks to help keep the ground running behind the scenes. This work related to their written course-work that they had learnt prior to their time at Roots Hall.
The practical work was overseen by their Tutor, Marian Jenkins who was very proud to have seen the group come so far.
“They have been the best of group of trainees to date, everyone passed with flying colours.
“You can see the difference in these trainees, at first they all came in and were quiet but now you can hardly get a minute’s silence which is a massive improvement.”
A selection of the trainees were handed awards based on specific areas.
Liam Warren a member of the group received the Tutor’s Choice Award for Effort and was over the moon after picking up two awards.
“I am really proud in myself, I’ve come so far, and my tutors have seen that too and I’m glad to have got both awards."
Liam was unsure on what he wanted to do when he left school, but after hearing about the course through Southend United’s social media he instantly knew that it was the right choice for him.
“Several things made me want to join, but the mains ones being that I wanted to gain a qualification out of it, which I have, and another reason was the chance to work at Roots Hall because being a fan of the club I felt it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I had to take.
“Now that I have completed the course I will look on and hopefully use the skills that I have learnt with Southend United in a job or maybe in my personal life in the future.”
